Our signature product
Soft, smooth, and made for first-timers. The gentler of our two ranges, this disc has a flexible, cushiony ring that moves naturally with your body, so it feels comfortable from the very first try. The soft pull-string takes the guesswork out of removal — just a gentle tug and you're done. If you've been curious about discs but weren't sure where to start, this is it.

About Us
Hi, I’m Ivy on the left - founder of Circlo.
For most of my menstruating life, I didn’t think I’d be able to use internal products. Even though my dad is a doctor and my mum a midwife, growing up in China, the topic was never really talked about, and I had very little guidance about my own anatomy. Moving to New Zealand brought some basic sex education in high school, but it still wasn’t enough to help me get past my fears and challenges when it came to understanding my vagina.
As I became sexually active, I experienced discomfort, anxiety, and eventually Vaginismus — where the pelvic muscles involuntarily tighten, making penetration painful or sometimes impossible. Tampons never worked for me, and I assumed cups just weren’t “for people like me.” I stuck with pads, telling myself they were good enough. But they weren’t — they were bulky, sticky, and stuffy, especially during hot summer days.
Becoming a mum shifted something in me. I started thinking differently about my body, my time, and the kind of world I want to leave behind for my child. While exploring more sustainable ways of living, I discovered menstrual discs, which felt more approachable than cups, and decided to give one a try. It wasn’t easy at first — my first removal took nearly an hour — but over time, it got easier and easier.
What surprised me wasn’t just the physical freedom, but how much simpler life became. No more constantly buying products, checking supplies, planning around my period, or dealing with bulky products and constant changes. It was better for my lifestyle — and much better for my wallet too.
That also made me realise how unfair it is that something as natural as having a period still holds so many people back. Period poverty affects confidence, education, work, sport, and everyday opportunities. Reusable products aren’t just better for the planet — over time, they can also be far more affordable, making them a more accessible option too.
Looking back, if someone like me — who once believed internal products weren’t an option because of my body and my experience with Vaginismus — could learn to use them and find freedom through them, maybe I can help others who feel the same.
Circlo came from this journey. I want to empower everyone with a cycle so they have the knowledge and the chance to explore what works for their body and their cycle.
About Us
Hi, I’m Winnie on the right - co founder of Circlo.
Ivy and I grew our friendship after meeting in high school and running into each other volunteering at NZ Blood Donor Centre. As I write this, it appears there may be a common theme here…
I am privileged to have been invited to join Ivy on this venture, and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable life experience. I have grown and had significant life improvements as a menstruating woman discovering, researching, and understanding the value of different menstrual hygiene products before and after joining Circlo. I am excited to share my current and future learnings to hopefully help as many people as possible to have a more enjoyable experience when we have our period.
For context, I was a pad user for 30+ years. For me, period, sex, understanding my body was discouraged and I never felt safe talking about it or asking for advice. Being a very active person, with (what I’ve now learnt) an abnormally heavy flow, I dreaded EVERY. SINGLE. PERIOD. The mental toll of that week every month was something I didn’t think I could escape. On my heavy night, I would have to wake up in the middle of the night to change my super night pad. Every night during my period, I have to sleep a little bit upright, like a mummy, or I’ll stain the bed (before I learnt this trick, I slept on a towel with a plastic bag underneath). I couldn’t participate in water activities, or anything that was more active than walking since any major movement could result in leaking for me. If I had any trips that coincided with my period, I would not be able to stop thinking about everything that could go wrong, and all the things I can’t thoroughly enjoy. Any time I let my guard down because I’m not having a period with lots of clots that I can feel, or I lose track of time (e.g. on a flight), and I dare to wear a regular pad rather than a super pad, I will have to deal with bloody bottoms (usually with my hoodie tied to my hips covering my bum while I shiver to death not being able to wear my hoodie). I thought about having a hysterectomy since I was a teenager, so I don’t have miss out on life or suffer for a whole week every single month.
Although over the years I’ve tried many things that didn’t really help (codeine for pain), or had side-effects (certain hormone pills to skip my periods), I am glad to report I did find some very useful ways that did help me enjoy my life during my period - and of course one of them is our period disc 😉. My honest opinion (and what I wish I learnt as a kid when I first got my period) is – it’s worth giving every period relieving product a good try (over two to three periods). It’s worth our time and investment to find the best tools for our personalised period toolkit so we can continue all the life fulfilling activities without worry and fear while we are on our period!
